The Crypt of the Original Sin in Matera

The Crypt of the Original Sin in Matera, known as the "Cave of One Hundred Saints" is a testimony exceptional and astonishing history of South Asia, since documenting the cultural place of a Benedictine monastery rock of the Lombard period. Next to the special geological features of the site, the underground takes a great importance for the presence of a series of frescoes dating from the Benedictine-Benevento early ninth century AD: the large panel of Genesis, to the wonderful patriarchs placed in three apses.
With support for audio and lighting particular value is placed on the didactic nature of the cycle of paintings called the "Bible of the poor", the Bible tells the faithful to the humble.
